Meet the team

Alex McIvor

Alex joined the firm in March 2010 as a Staff Solicitor straight out of law school and has progressed to become a Director of the firm. His primary focus is on property law and private client matters, including residential and rural property transactions, relationship property matters and trust and estate law. Born in the Waikato, he attended St Paul’s Collegiate in Hamilton, then worked for a year at the Te Kuiti Meat Processing Plant, where he decided to pursue a career in law. Graduating from Waikato University in 2009, he has a double degree in Law and Social Science majoring in Psychology. Outside of the office Alex has a passion for martial arts and holds a third-degree black belt in Seido Karate. He enjoys all sports, spending time with family and friends and visiting his in-laws farm with his wife Jennifer, their son Boston and twin daughters Sienna and Summer.

Mark Davies

Mark started his legal career at Brent Kelly in 2007, where he worked for 3 years. He then spent 5 years travelling overseas and working in Auckland law firms specialising in property law. Mark returned to the firm in early 2015 and works predominantly in the property and commercial law space. He regularly advises clients on all aspects of property related matters including commercial, residential and rural transactions. He has extensive experience in leasing, acting for numerous clients with considerable commercial/rural property portfolios. Mark also regularly advises clients on all aspects of general commercial and company law. Mark was born and bred in the Waikato/King Country and lives in Cambridge with his wife Jules and their three children.

Priya Takhar

An experienced lawyer, Priya has extensive expertise in general conveyancing and private client work including wills, trusts and general matters. She has practiced law both in New Zealand and in the UK. If you are from the UK Priya can help you understand the difference between “exchange and completion” and “unconditional and settlement”. Having grown up in Te Awamutu, Priya is very much a local. She has lived in Australia, England and Wales but always returns home. Priya completed her Law and Management Degrees (with Honours) at The University of Waikato in 2001. Outside the office Priya enjoys spending time with her family, her Welsh husband (who sadly does not play Rugby!) and friends. She also attends concerts, theatre and shows and enjoys travelling around New Zealand in her weekends. Having spent her years at University working in bars locally and then later owning one with her husband, she has probably served you a refreshing beverage at some time!

Pam Fitzgibbon

Pam is a Registered Legal Executive and has an extensive background in all aspects of residential conveyancing, as well as assisting clients with commercial conveyancing, wills, trusts and general matters. With a keen interest in subdivisions, easements and land covenants, Pam has worked on projects ranging from large high-profile residential developments through to small boundary adjustments. She always aims to make the subdivision process less daunting and as stress-free as possible for her clients. Originally from sunny Nelson, Pam began practising as a Legal Executive in 1995. Before joining Brent Kelly Law she practised in Cambridge. Outside of work Pam can be found gardening, reading and enjoying classic cars.

Kathryn Horton

Kathryn is an experienced Senior Legal Executive who joined Brent Kelly Law in early-2021. She has worked in the legal industry for the past 24 years – 16 of those as a Legal Executive and the last 4 as a Senior Legal Executive. She has also been a Fellow of the Legal Executive Institute since 2017. Born-and-bred in Te Awamutu, Kathryn has a passion for the farming industry and enjoys working on farm transactions. She also works on legal matters relating to subdivisions, residential and commercial conveyancing, wills, trusts and commercial leases. Kathryn has recently started to take on some estate work as well. Outside of work, she is married with 2 daughters and enjoys getting outdoors with her family.

Linda Taylor

Linda is our Legal Secretary/Trust Account Administrator. She has many years of experience in the legal field and provides excellent client service. Growing up in Te Awamutu, Linda now resides in nearby Pirongia where she shares her home with a menagerie of pets. Linda has two adult children and is a grandmother to twins, who she loves to spend her spare time with.

Tina Blackwell

Previously our front of house / Receptionist, Tina stepped up to the role of Legal Secretary in early 2022 at Brent Kelly Law. She has a strong background in administration in the insurance and legal industry, having worked previously with Aon Insurance and the Public Trust. Tina is a Te Awamutu girl born and bred and enjoys the challenges of getting her two sons off to school in the mornings before work and supporting their many sporting pursuits on the weekend. She is married to Shane and is an organisational force both at home and within our firm.

What are our clients saying?

"The entire team at Brent Kelly Law Limited is a pleasure to deal with. Nothing is too much trouble, everything is made easy for me to understand and process."
